OSFL FOOTBALL (2010) - the weekend of May 15th / 16th to June 19th / 20th Tyke - born in 2001 or later (flag belts) Mosquito - born in 1999 or 2000 Peewee - born in 1997 or 1998
Note: these age brackets vary from NCAFA competitive football (see below)
This is a recreational program that started in 2008 with 4 clubs fielding teams at each level. It is a program supported by Football Canada that employs a 6 on 6 model for football - with full equipment. Most players will be new to football - however - a number of our competitve players will also be playing. You should expect the percentage of new players for each level to be approximately: Tyke - 95% Mosquito - 75% Peewee - 50%
The youngest group will not tackle - they will use flag belts. Teams will play every Saturday and Sunday for 6 weeks. Registration will actually take place through local community centres. This program operates independently from the East Ottawa Generals competitive tackle program but serves to be a great introduction for those that may be interested. A number of OSFL players went on to help lead both Generals Tyke and Mosquito teams to record seasons in 2008.
For 2010 - we expect the following clubs to field teams at each level

GIRL'S TOUCH FOOTBALL (2010) - training starts in April - season is from May 15 to June 26 NCAFA has one of the best Girl's Touch Leagues around. We would like to field Peewee and Bantam teams if there are enough interest. The season runs from May 15th to June 26th. Any girls born between 1994 and 1998 should contact mark.quinn@sympatico.ca if you are interested in playing. It would be a good idea to talk with some of your friends and form a group - that will increase our chances of having enough players to enter a team. HIP HOP DANCE TEAM (2010)- starts the week of Monday July 12th to Championship Week in early November Junior - born in 1998 or later Senior - born in 1994 to 1997
This is a new program for us - it is our alternative to Cheerleading. Members will be expected to learn anywhere from 3 to 6 routines over the course of the year and perform at half-time and in between the NCAFA league games. We have advertised this program in the past but have fallen just short of having an adequate number to pull it off. In 2008 we did have a number of Junior aged girls opt to act as Cheerleaders at our games. In 2009 Erin Dube or Markin' Moves got this up and running and the girls were fantastic and very well recieved. We hope to develop this program further in 2010.

NCAFA TACKLE FOOTBALL (2010) - starts the week of Monday July 12th to Championship Week in early November Mite - born in 2002 or later Tyke - born in 2000 or later Mosquito - born in 1998 or 1999 Peewee - born in 1996 or 1997 Bantam - born in 1994 or 1995
This is competitive football - competing in the largest minor football league in Canada - the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) - which originated in 1955. NCAFA has 15 member clubs from Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec and expect to have 2 more clubs make application for membership in the next 2 years. Rosters are limited to 36 players (30 for Tyke). There is no Mite League at this time but we are open to accepting players and buildling one. Players that do not make the final rosters for their NCAFA teams are permitted to play for any other club. We have often relied on such players from other clubs but our hope is to develop and maintain rosters of players built entirely from our own communities.
