In recent years it has been a priority for the East Ottawa Generals to provide activities for girls.
Girl's are always welcome to play tackle football and we have had many that have played in past years that have had great success - but - it is not for everyone.
Erin Dube is a professional Dance Instructor with her own studio (Makin'Moves) and has volunteered her time to create our Dance Teams. In 2009, Erin lead a small group of girls (players sisters) and brought a few from her studio to the field and they proved to be one of the most exciting and entertaining aspects of our games. We hope to expand on that for 2010 - Carolynn Sweeney will also be helping.
At this time - the program is free - so - any girls wishing to have some fun this summer should contact us now. The girls will be taught routines and will perform at half-time and between games for the NCAFA schedule.
Alex Tousignant (nee Ellingson) played in the first ever Girl's Touch Season created by her father James - for NCAFA.
Alex brought her knowledge, expertise and husband to us this year and with the help of Patrick Cote and Guillaume Boudreau from Le Patro - we were able to field our first ever Girl's Touch Peewee team in 2010. This was by far the youngest and most inexperienced team but they overcame that and went on to play in the first A Cup Semi Final game in Generals history - losing a close game to the Cumberland Panthers 8-6.
The Girl's Touch Schedule is during May and June each year - so - we plan on growing this for 2011. At this time - this program is also free to any girls interested in playing.
